yellow house

Demonstration for the VIP's. Aussie students included.

Traditional Malay martial arts

Traditional Malay game. Jacqui beat Rima...... very funny!

Fighting with a real Karis. They really did hit and thump each other, it was great!

Malay car yard ..... just for my husband

Hard Rock cafe.... spicy buffalo wings

Due to our busy schedule, a big meal was had by all at Hard Rock. We did become more adventurous! With alcohol at Happy Hour it came to 100R.M per head. Ouch!
Batu Ferringhi

Fish Spa

Chicken satay. Need I say more!

Spring rolls, these homemade goodies were the best thing we had eaten. Yum!

However, the banana and nutella roti from the street stalls was pretty good.

What beautiful students. They had to pay for their photocopying, 0.40RM.

Science display in the classroom.

some shy school boys.... not

The main staff room.

another staff room with better air conditioning to place theirs Australian guests. I am studying hard to discover how much content they need to know. In another hour I wasn't smiling as much.

Group presentations on essential nutrients. Student centred learning approach.
The students asked many questions about Australia for about 30 minutes. They were very vocal and asked a lot of questions.

more science classroom group work. They researched from their textbook physical changes and regulation to temperature. They then presented to the class in groups in english. The students were dressed in their uniforms for this day. Polis, Female muslim club in the white and pink.

early morning jam session. Thanks Ryan!

The main quadrangle where all assemblies and special announcements occur. All students gather everyday at about 7:30am to start their day. Every fortnight they gather to do revision of a subject eg. science for 35 minutes. They complete it as a large group and it changes subject area every time.

Rima at the staff canteen for breakfast. Spicy noodles and rice, with OJ, and fruit.

Catering class, this is for the non academic students to be able to work in restaurants in the hotels who do not want to attend university. Gas and electric stoves. Purified water at every sink. Drip dry at the sinks due to the hot weather!

Sehsahrikhe the practical student who let us teach a class together. She attends a private college and will be at the school for 4 months, including writing lesson plans and a large report. She is lovely.

Juzenna and Bazlina with Jacqui and Rima at the Museum of science and mathematics.

National House dedicated to the history of P. Ramlee.

Rima and Bazlina with her younger son who was dragged along with us for an entire afternoon and night. He was asleep in the car by the end.

OUCH! walking on the stones at the Japanese gardens. It was a lot longer than the RECSAM path and I only made it about 1/2 way.

One of the pools at the gardens. Very enjoyable and pleasant atmosphere.

Jezanna and Jacqui attempting the exercise equipment. Jezanna was a little more relaxed than I was.

The warriors that represented the red house at Raja Tun Uda. The are fighting with the Karis like in the demonstration at the school.

A 3D painting outside Guerney Plaza. Rima and Bazlina were both kicked off as they weren't allowed to sit on it. haha...

These scarves were given to us to wear for the morning prayer's on Friday. We unfortunately returned them to Bazlina, not realising that they were a gift. Oops... hopefully we can get them back.

Cooking ANZAC biscuits with the catering students. We had a discussion about cups and teaspoons, and they wanted to convert everything to grams. I started to weigh it out, when they brought out the cups and teaspoons for a different task. I was very excited and yelled out "that's it", so then the process was more accurate. Each batch of cookies looked a little different due to the amount of ingredients used from each group. they were not as clear as to measure to a level top. Maybe that was the teacher's fault. (it could have been me).

adding the bubbling bicarb, butter and golden syrup mixture to the dry ingredients.

Aren' they clever. They were so excited and happy. This was the air conditioned room so they really enjoyed having their photos taken in there.

The catering uniform! Their class teacher, who I asked if they learn anything about Food Safety, and they do not. Food Technology does not exist even though it has many job prospects in Australia.
